Security Statement

We are aware of and respect your security concerns. We take your and our security seriously.

When you are ready to enter the shopping department, our system automatically places your World Wide Web browser into "Secure Mode". While in this mode, any information that is submitted to or from our servers is scrambled or encrypted. Your browser should indicate that you are entering a secure area while you are doing so.

Builderdepot.com recommends the use of a secure browser to access customer credit card and account information as well as in processing orders. Secure browsers employ Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to communicate with our store servers

From the ground up, we built a security system that keeps your account information private.

Our store ensures protection throughout the registration and transaction process -- on your computer, during the transmission of information, and within Builderdepot's own computer systems, including encryption and firewalls.

Once your account information leaves your computer to the time it enters Builderdepot's servers, all sessions are encrypted. This means your password, as well as information relating to you and your account are protected.

If for any reason your secure session ends - for example, a power surge cuts off your connection, or your browser freezes - your transaction automatically terminates.

We use encryption, which is the process used to convert plain text or other information into an unrecognizable pattern of data. There are two types of encryption:

40-bit encryption, also called international-grade encryption: With 40-bit encryption, there are 2 40 different mathematical combinations, literally billions of combinations, only one of which will unlock the code we used to protect a transaction.

128-bit encryption, also called domestic-grade encryption: With 128-bit encryption, there are 2128 different mathematical combinations, billions and billions more than the 40-bit encryption, one of which will unlock the code we used to protect a transaction. Builderdepot encourages you to use 128-bit encryption if possible.

Builderdepot has in place a firewall acting as a buffer between our internal networks and the Internet. This protects Builderdepot's internal network from intruders or hackers who might try to use the Internet to break into those systems

Builderdepot takes multiple steps to keep your accounts and personal information secure, but you also play a role in maintaining the security of your information. Here's what you can do:

Memorize your password
Your password authenticates you when you sign in to your account. You should memorize this password, and never write it anywhere or reveal it to anyone.

Change your password regularly
It's important to change your password regularly, which you can easily do after you sign in to your account.

Remember to sign off
You may not always be at your own computer when you visit Builderdepot. Therefore, it's important to sign off when you're finished shopping. Utilize the built-in security features of your browser
We recommend that you utilize the built-in security features that browsers provide. Choosing certain security settings and options will help protect the privacy of your accounts and personal information

Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is an industry-wide standard protocol designed by Netscape Communications Corporation to provide secure communications on the Internet. SSL does three things:

We strive to make your transaction with Builderdepot.com a secure one and will endeavor to utilize the most recently available security features and latest technology available to online commerce retailers. We also offer the Builderdepot Purchase Pledge. However, Builderdepot.com cannot ensure the security of any information you transmit and you do so at your own risk.

You have a choice;

  • Place your order online using your credit card
Fill out our online order form using your browser I secure mode. Once you have submitted your order, we do not store your credit card number in our database, we only use it to process the transaction and then it is erased from our database.
  • Order by Phone
You can always order any products found on the Builderdepot store by phone. Our sales representatives can be reached from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.

Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, your bank can not hold you liable for more than $50.00 of fraudulent charges to your credit card, if you promptly report the unauthorized charge. If your bank does hold you liable for any of this $50.00, Builderdepot will cover the entire liability for you, up to the full $50.00. Builderdepot will only cover this liability if the unauthorized use of your credit card resulted through no fault of your own from purchases made at Builderdepot while using the secure server.
